Four people treated for smoke inhalation after caravan park fire

Four people were treated for smoke inhalation at a caravan site after a fire broke out.

Paramedics were called to Hinksford Mobile Home Park, in Hinksford, South Staffordshire, at 4.42am today.

One of the patients, a man, was taken to Russells Hall Hospital, in Dudley, for further assessment, said West Midlands Ambulance Service.

One ambulance, two paramedics and a hazardous response team was sent to the site near Kingswinford.

The ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a fire at Hinksford Mobile Home Park at 4.42am.

"One ambulance, two paramedic officers and our hazardous area response team were sent to the scene.

"On arrival we discovered four patients who required assessment for some inhalation.

"One of them, a man, was taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital for further assessment."

The park is operated by South Staffordshire District Council.

A spokesman for the council said: "Our immediate concerns are for the safety and welfare of the residents on the site and we offer our greatest sympathies for those affected by the incident.

"We are working with the relevant services to ensure that we can ascertain the facts about how the incident occurred."

West Midlands Fire Service has also been approached for comment.
