Developers are eyeing up land, which was once home to The Rising Sun, in Barton Street, West Bromwich.

A planning application, by Tammy Stokes, has been submitted to Sandwell Council for four one-bedroom flats and two semi-detached homes.

Planning documents say the pub was demolished in 2012 alongside with "a number of partially constructed buildings".

The report reveals the pub was listed in public land records since at least 1964.

A report, submitted to Sandwell Council, said: "The site is located in area which has been the subject of major regeneration, in the very recent past.

"The general area around the site is mainly residential area in nature.

"The site is suitable for a small residential development of either a small block of apartments or a pair of semi -detached houses.

"The redevelopment of this site for residential development provides the opportunity to bring back the site into beneficial use in a well-established residential area."

Sandwell's planning committee will decide on the plans at a future date.
