A small Sandwell park could be lost under plans to build more than a dozen homes.

Plans have been submitted to build 13 houses on Brook Park, near to Wolverhampton Road, in Oldbury.

Langley Councillor Bill Gavan says that is the only green space left in the neighbourhood - after Brandhall Golf Club was closed by Sandwell Council for new housing.

The site is located next to a pet hospital.

Planning documents say the applicant, Rajesh Kumar Sood, is seeking to build four and five-bedroom houses.

Sandwell Council sold the land to the applicant for housing but rejected their previous application in March over fears the plans would result in a "loss of open community space".

There were also concerns about insufficient parking for would-be residents, alongside a flood risk.

However, in the latest planning report, the applicant says: "These grounds for rejection seem largely misinformed and contrary to expert consultation that was sought throughout the development of the original submission. This resubmission addresses these grounds for rejection."

Sandwell's planning committee will decided on the plans at a future date.
