Plans for 5G mast outside Wollescote Hall withdrawn
Controversial plans to build a 5G mast outside a Grade ll-listed mansion in the Dudley borough have been withdrawn.
Developers have pulled out of proposals for a 20m-tall mast to be built outside the 17th century Wollescote Hall, in Wollescote, between Halesowen and Stourbridge.
The planning application was submitted on behalf of the Government - which wants the West Midlands to become the UK’s first “large-scale test bed” for 5G.
Councillor Tim Crumpton, who spearheaded a campaign to stop the planning application, welcomed the move saying it was "great news".
He said: "The developers have accepted our argument that the site is totally out of order.
"I believe that by contacting them directly - and offering a meeting with interested parties - to see why the site was unsuitable made them see that a fight would not be in their interests."
