The plans will see homes built at the junction of Lower City Road and Dudley Road East, in Tividale, Sandwell.

The site is former industrial land stretching back to the 1800s but today its lies flattened and vacant.

The proposed development consists of eight three-bedroom homes and six two-bedroom homes.

Two canals runs next to the site in the form of the Old Main Line and the Gower Branch.

A building stood there since 1890 and planners believe it could have been used to stable horses.

However the building was demolished over a decade ago.

This planning application is the type of development which West Midlands Mayor Andy Street has called for in a bid to address house shortages across the Black Country.

He says brownfield sites, and urban land, should be a priority instead of using green belt and other green spaces.

A decision is due in the coming weeks.
