Oldbury warehouse plan to bring dozens of jobs
A huge distribution centre could be built in Oldbury bringing dozens of new jobs, under plans.
Opus Land wants to build the warehouse on a six-acre site off Seven Stars Lane.
The vast, disused site next to the Birmingham Canal would be developed.
Artist's impressions show how the land would be transformed by the huge new building, along with a car park and loading job area.
It is hoped a leading firm could be attracted to the huge warehouse, providing jobs and an economic boost for the area.
Many industrial buildings on the site have already been demolished over recent years but some that are remaining would need to be cleared. Developers say the creation of the distribution centre would breathe new life into the site, which has been left abandoned for years.
Documents submitted with the plans said: "The site was a former industrial complex; the main buildings were demolished some time ago and the site has been left vacant for number of years. There are still small elements of structure remaining. The intention will be to demolish any structures and clear the site ready for re-development."
Opus has moved to ease concerns about the number of lorries and other vehicles heading to and from the site and said the building's occupiers "will be encouraged to take seriously their responsibilities towards protecting the environment" by "unnecessary car usage".
