Owner Intu wants to modernise the shopping centre and has revealed more details on plans for a 100,000sq ft extension.

The company is planning to invest £100 million in the Merry Hill, in both the expansion and modernisation of the wider centre, over the next seven years.

It has now been revealed that a new restaurant quarter is likely to be added, to join its exisiting fast food eating area.

Bosses are also prioritising adding leisure facilities as part of the revamp. Details have not yet been announced but it has been suggested a bowling alley is an option being explored.

Dan Murphy, general manager at Merry Hill, said: “Our plans to build a leisure extension at Merry Hill are still at a very early stage but will form an important part of our long-term commitment to enhance the centre’s leisure offer and retail mix.

"We will be introducing a number of exciting changes and improvements to Merry Hill during this time and look forward to announcing these in due course."
