Councillors to hold talks over controversial tip move
Councillors from across the political spectrum in Dudley are to hold talks over controversial plans to close Stourbridge tip and move operations to Brierley Hill.
Dudley Council has come under fire from some members over the plans and it is not certain they would pass as the controlling Labour group does not command a majority at the council house.
Concerns have been raised about extra traffic being added to the roads around Brierley Hill and the Merry Hill shopping centre as a result of the move.
Environment boss Councillor Hilary Bills said she would hold talks with opposition councillors in May to gauge whether there was enough support for the plan.
She said: "There is going to be a meeting with councillors from the three wards affected.
"Once we have got through that meeting all the options will be on the table and we will be able to move forward."
If there is support for the move, it will then go out to public consultation.
