Council home boost in Sandwell after blitz on fraud
Dozens of council homes have been brought back into use thanks to a crackdown on housing tenancy fraud in Sandwell.

During a six-month pilot scheme beginning in November, eight properties were recovered from people not entitled to live in them and a further 36 were found abandoned.
Meanwhile, three fraudulent right-to-buy applications were blocked.
The Audit Commission calculates that the average cost of tenancy fraud per property is £18,000 which equates to £144,000 for the eight properties recovered.
