Controversial plans to build 82 properties in Staffordshire as part of a school redevelopment have been given the green light by planners.
Controversial plans to build 82 properties in Staffordshire as part of a school redevelopment have been given the green light by planners.
The proposals for homes behind Eccleshall's community centre off Shaw Lane – were put forward by Staffordshire County Council.
But more than 170 residents signed a petition against the development and councillors have twice sent the plans back to the authority so changes can be made.
Residents raised objections over the number of homes, the risk of flooding and traffic congestion.
Although council bosses reduced the number of properties by three to 82, they refused to change plans with regards to the amount of space around the homes.
They want the development to be used to fund work to Bishop Lonsdale School to enable it to move onto one site.
