As part of our regular property feature on life in Black Country areas, this week we look at living in Wolverhampton with information on the schools, transport, house prices and more:

Home to around 250,000 people, Wolverhampton is the 13th most populous city in England and has plenty to keep its residents busy.

With a thriving arts scene, including an art gallery and several concert venues such as the Civic Hall, as well as numerous clubs, pubs and shops in the city centre, there is plenty to see and do.

The city also boasts a Premier League football team in Wolves, which play a central role in the the town's identity and is well supported by many of its residents.

Transport:

The city is extremely well placed on both the road and rail network, being just off the M54 motorway and very close to the M6 network, while regular trains to London and the rest of the country travel daily from the city's railway station.

What the people say:

On Twitter, The Vicar's Wife said that the best aspect of Wolverhampton is that it's friendly, affordable and surprising and the worst is that it is "under-rated by anyone who doesn't live there."

Mary O'Neil added: "The worst is the run down of the city its in a bad way Not enough shops - Mander Centre looks ancient."

On Facebook, Tom Stokes said: "If you compare it to other places nearby it's very tidy, there are a lot of outdoor spaces to visit, like West Park and local parks for children to play on. Public transport routes really good for getting either somewhere local or long distance"

Schools:

Wolverhampton is home to one of the oldest active schools in the country - Wolverhampton Grammar School, which was founded in 1512.

There are a number of notable secondary schools - including Wolverhampton Girls' High School (Outstanding) and St Peter's Collegiate CofE School (Good.)

Further education is provided by the City of Wolverhampton College, Tettenhall College and the University of Wolverhampton.
