Hammer Hill House was designed by Sir Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis who is famous throughout the architectural world for creating Portmeirion, the popular Italianate tourist village , near Portmadoc, along the North Wales coastline.

Set in more than 28 acres of Shropshire countryside, close to Bridgnorth and near Wolverhampton, the six-bedroomed house stands in an elevated position above the Severn Valley in Romsley Lane in the small rural hamlet of Romsley, with far-reaching views to The Clee and Welsh Hills.

It was built in 1923, not too long before the architect embarked on the project in Wales for a cousin of former Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.

It has since been greatly extended, with the house now spreading more than 14,000sq ft.
