In the latest installment of the 'moving to' series we look at living in Codsall, a large village to the north west of Wolverhampton.

From its first recording in the 1086 Domesday Book, when it was listed as having just six residents, the village has flourished and is now home to over 15,000 people.

Codsall is popular with families and young professionals who work in neighbouring Wolverhampton and the surrounding West Midlands conurbation.

The village has a cricket club, a golf course, a paintball site, a main shopping area, three first schools, a primary school and a community high school, the only secondary school in the area.

Transport:

The village is linked to the surrounding areas via its railway service on the Shrewsbury-Wolverhampton line and is well placed for commuting by road, with Wolverhampton and the M54 nearby.

Codsall's famous daughter Jacqui Oatley, the first female commentator on Match of the Day said on Twitter: "Best: catching up with family in Village Coffee. Worst: Knowing I have 3 hour drive "home" to Surrey!"

Schools:

Primary: St Christopher's Catholic Primary School was rated 'good' in its latest Ofsted inspection.

First: St Nicholas CofE was rated 'outstanding', Birches First School was given an overall evaluation as a 'good' school, while Lane Green First was named 'satisfactory.'

Middle: Both Bilbrook CofE and Codsall Middle School were named 'good.'

Secondary: Aldersley High School was rated 'good', while Codsall Community High School was given a 'satisfactory' Ofsted report.

Property prices:

The average house price paid in Codsall over the past three years was £196,308. The average home value has decreased by 13.5% in that time, a monetary loss of £24,209.
