Homes of the Week: Barn conversions

Grand designs returned to our screens this week and in our Homes of the Week gallery, we've got some beautiful barn conversions that would make even Kevin McCloud gasp.

With so much space to work with, converting barns for modern living has become all the rage, but it actually took off in the 70s and 80s, when many farm buildings were left redundant and used for residential accommodation instead.

Their size and location provided an opportunity to create stunning, yet peacefully idyllic homes in the countryside.
