Councillor Michael Coulson has expressed strong opposition to the decision as the reason behind it remains undisclosed.
First elected to represent the Bloxwich West ward in May 2024, councillor Coulson said the suspension was ‘wholly unjustified’ and ‘extremely unsettling’.
Despite the investigation, Coulson has promised to ‘focus even more’ on supporting the people of Bloxwich West.
He said: “I have not done anything to warrant even an investigation. But the very fact the national Labour Party has decided to pursue an investigation is extremely unsettling.

“The terms of the investigation forbid me from discussing it, this only adds to the agony I am already feeling.
“I will now focus even more on the residents of Bloxwich West, who I love being their councillor. I will also produce a very thorough and detailed defence of everything I have done since 2019.
“As I’m an experienced trade union rep and have great support, we will produce a case that will make it impossible to conclude I’m guilty.
“Then I will resume my political career in Walsall labour party.”
