Children's home in leafy Tettenhall 'a waste of taxpayers' cash', Tories claim
Council chiefs have been slammed after plans to fork out £650,000 on a children's home in a leafy Wolverhampton suburb were signed off.

The city council's planning committee backed a scheme to turn a posh house on Keepers Lane, Tettenhall, into a children's home, despite opposition from residents.
Tory councillors have hit out at the decision, saying the site is too isolated, lacks the required resources for the support of vulnerable children, and was a "waste of taxpayers' money".
Planning permission was granted by the narrowest of margins after Labour councillor Paul Sweet, the committee's chair, cast the deciding vote in favour of the development.

Tettenhall Regis Conservative councillor, Sohail Khan, said: "Whilst we acknowledge the need for suitable care facilities, we firmly contend that the chosen location at Keepers Lane does not meet the necessary criteria for creating a safe supportive environment for these vulnerable individuals.
