Bill Etheridge was told to leave the chamber in Strasbourg during heated exchanges in a Brexit debate.

The former Dudley councillor, who quit UKIP and is now a member of the Libertarian Party UK, accused opposition politicians of being "cowards" and "weak" after claiming questions for British politicians had been ignored.

On his way out he was subjected to calls of "go home" from Tory MEPs.

Mr Etheridge said: “I was subjected to people sneering at us and delivering a parade of UK-bashing speeches.

"I am here to represent the people, not to back down.

“The people need to understand what is happening here, these people are blocking debate.”
