Fabbers 'strangely comfortable' in pink
Michael Fabricant has admitted that he feels 'strangely comfortable' in pink – and suggested he may don the colour in the House of Commons.
The flamboyant Tory MP tweeted a photograph of himself sporting a shocking pink feather scarf and salmon pink jeans at an anti-domestic violence rally in Staffordshire.
In the picture Mr Fabricant, who represents Lichfield, is flanked by fellow campaigners and holds aloft a placard featuring the message: "Real men don't hit women."
He tweeted the image to Labour backbencher Stella Creasy, who is urging people to wear pink in protest of Donald Trump's proposed state visit to the UK.
Mr Fabricant said in the tweet: "I thought I'd share this piccy with my new friend [Stella Creasy], of me in #pink in #LichVegas joining campaigners against domestic violence in #Staffordshire.
"I felt strangely comfortable in that colour...#MustWearinHouseofCommons."
Ms Creasy responded by tweeting: "The feathers definitely suit you."
The MP for Walthamstow is spearheading the campaign against US President Mr Trump's visit to Britain.
She said: "If this visit goes ahead it calls for a response that reflects our distinctive British democratic ways.
"If we are creative we can also show solidarity with those who his presence insults.
"That’s why if Trump doesn’t heed the call to apologise and stay away from our shores, I intend to wear the colours of the pussyhat brigade- the pink hats first knitted by Krista Suh and Jayna Zweiman to bring attention to civil and human rights issues.
"A vibrant shocking pink that could not be ignored in the sea of the women’s marches around the world or by any President, no matter how blinkered he may be about the world. Now that really could be a colourful eye opener."
