Sir Bill – a veteran Eurosceptic – has been an MP since 1984 and will stand for the Stone seat.

Mr Lefroy first entered Parliament in 2010 and will again contest Stafford.

Sir Bill said: "I am delighted that I have been re-adopted as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate by the Stone Constituency Conservative Association and will be fighting this election to return a Conservative Government under Theresa May."

Mr Lefroy said: “It is a huge honour to be re-selected as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Stafford. My aim is always to work for the people of Stafford in the way I have always done.

Amanda Milling was previously re-selected last week to contest Cannock Chase which she first won in 2015 after Aidan Burley announced he would not stand.
