And, for many, it will inevitably lead to memories of past summers when the West Midlands has enjoyed long spells of hot sunshine.

Today we delve into the photographic archives of the Express & Star for some memorable scenes from years gone by.

Some reflect outdoor attractions, such as packed outdoor swimming pools and lidos that are no longer here.

Others are at special events that brought in big crowds to enjoy a long summer day out. And some are simply every day life going on, such as a special treat for children as school lessons are moved outside or people sitting outside their door having a chat with neighbours as they take a breather in the hot summer sunshine.

We would love to hear your summer memories. Send them, together with any pictures, by visiting expressandstar.com/your-world.
