Suzuki announces pricing for new Katana
Retro-styled bike pays homage to the 1980s original
Suzuki has revealed that its new Katana will start at £11,399 when it arrives in dealerships this spring.
The new model pays homage to the 1980s original through its retro styling cues. However, its mechanicals are thoroughly up-to-date, with a 148bhp, 999c transverse four engine linked to a three-mode traction control system.
The square headlamp and sharp nose are distinctly reminiscent of the original Katana, and underneath the fairing lies a similar running gear to Suzuki’s GSX-S1000.
It also receives Brembo brake calipers, and LED lights all round. The Y-spoke wheels are shod in Dunlop Roadsport 2 tyres, too.
The KYB inverted front forks feature fully adjustable damping, rebound, compression and spring pre-load. The rebound damping and spring pre-load of the rear suspension can be adjusted too.
A LCD instrument cluster relays a variety of key details back to the rider, such as speed, fuel levels and the selected traction control level.
The Katana is also available from launch with a Samurai accessory pack. Costing £999, this adds a fly screen, red and black seat, carbon-fibre-effect mudguard and a wheel rim tape too.
It represents a £383 saving over buying the individual parts and fitting them to the bike separately.
The new Suzuki Katana is expected to arrive in dealerships in April.
