Skoda gives a glimpse of new hatchback’s interior
Ahead of a December reveal, Skoda has shown off the interior of its new Scala hatch
Skoda has released an image showing the interior of its latest car – the Scala.
The illustration shows an evolutionary but smart design for the cabin of the Volkswagen Golf-sized hatchback, with a large infotainment screen, sculptured centre console and new Virtual Cockpit digital dials.
The interior is a toned-down version of the one on the Vision RS Concept, although it retains a wide, sweeping dashboard with free-standing infotainment display plus angular air vents. Items such as the concept’s steering wheel have clearly been toned down, however, with the picture showing a more conventional Skoda item instead.

The new touchscreen display measures 9.2 inches diagonally – one of the largest on a Skoda – and sits alongside the brand’s first digital dial pack. Named Virtual Cockpit, it’s an optional 10.25-inch display that takes the place of traditional dials. Skoda says it will be customisable to show at least five views.
There are plenty of premium touches too, such as contrast stitching, optional microfibre seat upholstery, ambient lighting and a new ‘crystalline’ texture for the door trims, which is set to feature on more Skoda interiors.
In addition to the smart new dashboard, the Scala is set to offer class-leading interior space. Skoda is using the longest version of the MQB A0 platform – the Volkswagen Group’s scalable chassis technology – to offer a wheelbase 29mm longer than a Volkswagen Golf’s.
There’s also a 467-litre boot on offer, and Skoda says the knee room will match that in the larger Octavia. It claims the Scala will be the first Skoda to be always online – with a companion app allowing for software updates and even remote unlocking from a mobile phone.
The Skoda Scala will be revealed in full on December 6.
