Yamaha has revealed its new XSR700 XTribute, which takes design inspiration from the trail bikes of the 1980s.

Based on the brand’s current XSR700, the XTribute pairs classic looks with a cutting-edge engine as well as up-to-date technology.

It’s powered by a 689cc inline two-cylinder engine, which has been developed to deliver decent performance along with good fuel economy. It can be specified with an optional Akrapovic exhaust, giving it an even more raucous engine note.

The bike benefits from off-road handlebars and chunky rubber footrests, both of which contribute to the XTribute’s scrambler looks. They’re backed up by a flat seat and rubber gaiters on the front forks.

It also gets black instruments, controls and radiator covers designed to give the bike a more understated look.

The XTribute gets the same colour scheme as the classic XT500, with a silver tank combining with white mudguards and gold wheels to give it a distinctly retro look – even the XSR700 logo is inspired by the older bike’s graphics.

Block pattern tyres have been fitted to the bike’s lightweight 10-spoke cast wheels to give the XTribute a high level of grip as well as easy riding characteristics.

Although prices for the XSR700 XTribute are yet to be revealed, the bike is due to arrive at dealers in April 2019.
