Smart has revealed pictures of a new concept ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show next week.

Called the Forease, it follows on from other minimalistic concepts such as the Crossblade of 2001 and 2011’s ForSpeed.

Lacking any roof whatsoever, the Forease is certainly a car designed for warmer climates. So exposed is the cabin that Smart has removed the two air vents fitted to the standard ForTwo and replaced them with displays instead. These can be used to relay content from a smartphone-connected app back to the driver.

“The Smart Forease embodies a refreshingly simple form of driving fun in the city, standing for urban electric mobility without compromise – because, if in doubt, smart always opts for a consistent approach. The result is a sustainable driving experience built on freedom,” said Katrin Adt, head of Smart.

The exterior of the car has been finished in metallic white, which is contrasted by green accents both inside and out.

A green honeycomb design has also been applied to the inside of the car’s air vents.

Because it uses the platform of the Smart EQ ForTwo cabrio’s platform, the Forease is completely electric and the concept is a completely functional model.

Though Smart has announced no plans to put the Forease into production, its road-car underpinnings mean that it has more of a chance of hitting public roads than a traditional concept car.
