If you’re one of the 26 per cent of dog-owning households in the UK, Land Rover’s new range of accessories could be barking up your tree.

The British brand has launched a range of ‘Pet Packs’ to cater for the comfort of car owners’ canine companions.

With Land Rover estimating that around half of its customers are dog owners, few brands would seem to suit the accessory packs so well. There are three on offer, and all will fit into any current Land Rover or Range Rover model.

Starting off the range is the Pet Transportation Pack, which costs from £360.37. It includes a foldable pet carrier, spill-resistant water bowl and a rubber mat to keep the boot floor clear of muddy paws.

Step up to the Pet Load Space Protection Pack for £482 and you’ll gain a quilted load space liner, full-height luggage partition and that same water bowl. This pack is aimed at owners of larger dogs that won’t fit into a pet crate.

Finally, the top-of-the-range Pet Care and Access Pack offers the luggage partition and quilted load liner, along with a pet access ramp to help elderly or infirm pooches access the boot. It will support up to 85kg as a result of its sturdy aluminium construction.

There’s also a novel portable rinse system – essentially a 6.5-litre shower ideal for hosing off muddy paws on either dogs or humans. The Care and Access Pack costs from £887.56.

The range has been announced ahead of International Dog Appreciation Day on Sunday 26 August.

Finbar McFall, product marketing director for Land Rover, said: “Land Rover is all about enjoying the great outdoors and that goes hand-in-hand with dog ownership for many customers.

“Our customers told us that the comfort of their dogs on car journeys is crucial. They are part of the family and we recognise that. Our new Pet Packs will allow dogs to travel in real comfort and make journeys simpler and more relaxing for animals and at the same time protect the inside of owners’ vehicles.”
