Jaguar E-Type Series 3 revealed following 3,000 hour restoration
Classic sports car has been extensively upgraded with a range of bespoke touches
A Jaguar restoration specialist has unveiled its latest project – a completely revitalised E-Type Series 3.
E-Type UK, one of the leading restorers of Jaguar’s classic sports car, spent 3,000 hours upgrading the iconic two-seater.
Working to the requests of the customer, this Type 3 features upgraded suspension, custom wheels and full LED lighting. A complete air conditioning system has been fitted too, which allows the driver to enjoy the car even at the height of summer.
The original 5.3-litre V12 engine was stripped back and completely rebuilt, with its capacity upped to 6.1 litres. Now producing 284bhp, it is complimented by a 12-branch stainless steel exhaust system. A completely bespoke downdraft fuel injection system was also created for the engine, fitted alongside Jenvy throttle bodies and a full custom wiring loom.
To help the car cope with the engine’s increased power, E-Type UK added strengthening to the sills, along with extra air ducting for better cooling. Uprated brakes and a sports torsion bar was also fitted to help aid cornering.
The interior was also extensively overhauled. Bespoke leather upholstery was fitted, while the seat bases themselves were lowered in order to provide a better driving position. The seats, lifted from a Jaguar XJS, are heated too.
Extensive use of sound deadening should make the cabin a more relaxing place to be, while a stereo with Bluetooth connectivity brings the Jaguar’s in-car entertainment offerings firmly up-to-date.
The look of the interior has also been lifted with the use of LEDs located in the footwell, doors and boot. The whole look is finished off with a bright red starter button on the dashboard.
Though the price of this particular car hasn’t been disclosed, E-Type UK has confirmed that a similarly-specified model would cost between £250,000 and £300,000.
