Three GT86 cars have received heritage liveries

Toyota has released three GT86 coupes wearing heritage liveries to celebrate the 86th 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

The trio wear a different livery each, with all three paying homage to Toyota Le Mans racers of the past.

They follow on from a series of six GT86 cars that were finished in heritage liveries of some of the manufacturer’s historic race and rally car legends.

The first is finished in the same design as the 1992 Toyota TS010, while the second wears the livery of the 1998 TS020. The third and final GT86 is inspired by the RS050 Hybrid that raced during the 2016 Le Mans event.

James Clark, Toyota GB press relations manager, said: “The GT86 gives us a great canvas on which to pay tribute to some of the amazing Toyota race cars that have thrilled the crowds at Le Mans. Response to our earlier retro-liveried coupes was fantastic and we hope these new cars – all strictly one-off creations – will generate the same kind of enthusiasm as we approach this year’s 24-hour race.”

Each car gets a rear spoiler, while all three vehicles receive a drop in ride height by 40mm. A Millitek Sport Exhaust has been added to provide an even more head-turning sound too, and aftermarket alloys designed to mimic the look of racing wheels have also been fitted.

The trio are due to make an appearance at Le Mans next weekend, when this year’s event takes place. There are currently no plans to put the racing-liveried cars into production, though.
