Renault has announced pricing and specification for the updated Zoe as it opens order books for the all-electric supermini.

The upgraded Zoe gets a new electric motor, dubbed R110, which is more powerful than the one it replaces, but maintains the same 186-mile real-world range. Performance has been bumped up by 16bhp to 106bhp, which Renault says is best felt at higher speeds, where electric motors tend to begin to run out of puff.

Buyers can opt to purchase the car and battery outright, or simply pay for the car and lease the battery separately through monthly payments of £59. Dynamique Nav models excluding the battery are available for £199 per month for three years at 4.9 per cent APR after a £3,499 deposit, or £269 per month after a £4,999 deposit including the battery over the same period.

To sweeten the deal, Renault is throwing in a 7kW wall box home charger for free for Zoe buyers to speed up recharging at home.

The French car manufacturer is keeping the old, less powerful motor on sale for the updated Zoe, though it costs a fraction more than the equivalent R110-equipped model at £19,170 for Dynamique Nav and £21,420 for Signature Nav.
