Audi gives RS4 and RS5 more presence with Carbon Editions

Latest Audi Sport cars receive visual and mechanical tweaks

Audi has bolstered its RS4 and RS5 sports cars with a new Carbon Edition.

Bringing 20-inch milled alloy wheels, privacy glass and a sport exhaust, the specification commands a premium of £10,000 over the RS4 Avant’s standard list price and £12,500 over the regular RS5.

The special editions, which aren’t production limited, add a range of carbon-fibre reinforced polymer details, such as the roof on the RS5. It’s also been used on the front spoiler of both cars, as well as the sill extensions and interior inlays.

The 20-inch milled alloys not only add a distinct visual element to both vehicles, but also shave off eight kilograms from the car’s total weight. In total, the RS5 and RS4 Avant are 60kg and 80kg lighter respectively over the cars they replace.

Both are powered by a 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 engine that produces 444bhp and 600Nm of torque. The Carbon Edition vehicles receive no additional boost in performance, though the RS5 remains able to hit 60mph in 3.7 seconds, with the RS4 Avant reaching the same speed in 3.9 seconds.

Ultra-bright LED matrix headlamps have also been included as part of the Carbon Edition package. These are capable of automatically dipping or deactivating individual light diodes should the car sense an approaching vehicle. The unit also includes dynamic front indicators, mirroring the standard versions fitted to the rear.

The new RS4 Avant Carbon Edition is priced from £71,625, while the RS5 has a slightly higher premium of £75,400. Both cars are available to order now.
