Chery’s new SUV takes shape as manufacturer sets sight on Europe

Chery has unveiled sketches of its upcoming compact SUV.
The Chinese-manufacturer’s latest vehicle will be its first to launch in Europe, with the reveal taking place at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 12.
Ahead of the unveiling, Chery has released sketches SUV, which highlights its “Life in Motion” design philosophy.
The manufacturer says it is aimed at “young, urban, forward-thinking customers who choose sophisticated, high-quality products” with inspiration coming from nature.

The new vehicle will spearhead Chery’s plans to become a strong contender in the European market, with an all-new model line-up compromising of crossovers and SUVs to be introduced over the next few years.
Plans for European research and development, as well as design facilities are currently being put in place the Chinese company to aid its expansion goals, with the possibility of fleet sales also being considered.
Chery was founded in 1997 and has since sold 1.2 million vehicles overseas — more than any other Chinese manufacturer. It was also the first in its homeland to surpass six million vehicles.
Ray Bierzynski, executive vice president of the Chery research and development centre in Shanghai, said: “The world premiere of our new compact SUV marks the start of our approach to European sales with a new model line.
“Launching within a few years, all models in the line-up will feature characteristic styling, user-focused technology, electrified powertrains and advanced safety features.”
