Top five reasons to head to the 75th Goodwood Members’ Meeting

This weekend marks the start of Goodwood’s season opener – the 75th Members’ Meeting.

It’s the first event in the Goodwood calendar, but why should you attend? Here’s five reasons why you should be heading to the glorious race track in Sussex.

1. Motorsport legends

Thirteen-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard, BTCC champion Andrew Jordan and World Touring Car Champion Roberto Ravaglia are all attending, among a host of other famous motorsport names.

You’ll get to see these iconic racing drivers behind the wheel and tackling the famous Goodwood circuit. Coulthard, for instance, will be taking to the track in a 1955 Mercedes SL 417, at midday on Saturday.

2. There’s more to see than just cars

For those who aren’t entirely petrol-inclined, there’s a variety of other activities to attend off-track too.

These include an air rifle range and Jeep driving, as well as the chance to sample locally sourced food, such as slow-cooked Goodwood Estate Pork and Goodwood Ale.

3. Saturday evening fireworks

The event’s first day comes to a close with a spectacular firework display, ending the evening with a bang.

Goodwood’s firework displays are legendary, and anyone attending is in for a real treat.

4. Precious metals

As you’d expect, some pretty serious cars are attending the 75th Goodwood Members’ Meeting.

Three iconic periods of motoring history are set to be celebrated – with a selection of cars from each making high-speed demonstration runs. Cars include a range of GT1 cars, Group A Touring Cars including early Rover DS1s as well as a series of classic Italian supercars. All will be making the sprint up the hill, giving attendees a once in a lifetime chance of seeing them up and running.

5. Sideways action

The 75TH Members’ Meeting is an event which, unlike any other motorsport meeting, you’ll get to see classic cars driven – and driven hard. Goodwood events are notorious for sideways action, and the 75th Members’ Meeting is no different.

You’ll get to see classic Minis sliding all over the track, chased by cars with twice their horsepower. It’s a sight like no other.
