Classic day out for car fans with 100-mile drive
Classic car fans revved into action for a 100-mile drive around picturesque country lanes.
The convoy of around 15 vehicles – including an Austin 1300 GT from 1972 and an MG Midget from 1970 – set off from Wolverhampton Airport in Bobbington for a scenic tour.
Drivers and their navigators travelled along some of the most scenic routes of the region, taking in Kinver, Bewdley, Bridgnorth and Ironbridge.
Among those taking part was Penn couple Carolyn and Robin Tyler-Morris who drove in a Triumph Stag which had belonged to Mrs Tyler-Morris's late mother Winifred Tyler.
They were taking part in their third scenic tour.
"It was in brilliant condition but because it had been in a garage for so long, we only had to have the engine freed as it had seized up," said Mrs Tyler-Morris, aged 74.
"It's lovely too to have the car that once belonged to my mother. It's a great way to remember her."
Nick Bloxham, his wife Beth and their 12-week-old daughter Beatrix from Coven, travelled in a 1972 Mark 1 Escort Mexico, with little Beatrix in the navigator's seat.
Assistant accountant Mrs Bloxham, aged 28, said she had become involved in car touring and rallies thanks to her husband. "It was a case of if you can't beat them join them," she said.
