Fans take Penkridge Big Mini Show to the max - Video
Hundreds of Mini enthusiasts descended on Staffordshire to show off their motors at the weekend.
Around 250 cars, old and new, went on show in Penkridge at fans' first Big Mini Show.
There were around 17 clubs from across the UK including Scotland, London and the Midlands who displayed their motors yesterday.
Around 700 mini fans braved the wet weather to display or view the cars.
Among those at the event at Penkridge Market was Mark Gameson of the Carry on Min'in club which has members from across the region – and as far afield as Holland. The 33-year-old of
Adam Street, Kidderminster, brought along his rare Downton Touring which he has owned for 14 years. There are only five in circulation and he had spent up to £6,000 sprucing up the motor after purchasing it for £17,000.
The club meets in Pedmore and he said there was a special attraction to the Mini.
Mr Gameson, who works in joinery, said: "People come and talk to you, you make people smile if you have got a Mini. There is the history there, 1959 was the first one and they are still in production now."
Father-of-two Stuart Hancocks displayed his Mini Cooper S which he has spent time doing up.
He has owned it for 11 years and said although the re-sale value would be quite low, it was something he enjoyed.
The 45-year-old from Wyre Forest, said: "It is just the fun factor of a Mini. The first time I went out in one I was hooked.
"They are just so adaptable, they are so attractive. I have been to shows before but haven't put it on show. I haven't known what the standards are."
Geoff Walker has owned both old and new type Minis over a period of around 15 years. The father-of-two from Codsall, who owns an aquatics shop, now has a Mini GP, of which there were only 200 made in the UK.
"They are all different, it is very rare you see two alike. Everyone wants to try to get their Mini looking a little bit different," he said.
