These Halloween makeovers are delightfully disgusting
Hair and media make-up students at Walsall College will be using their skills to create fightening faces at this year's Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust's special Halloween Boat Trips.
The course, which launched in September, focuses on refining students' artistic skills in make-up and body art by learning how to create a range of special effects used by make-up artists working in the media industry.
Level two and three students have been perfecting their Halloween looks as parts of an assessed unit on their college course.
Hair and media make-up student, Talia Winton, 16, said: "It's only been a few weeks but I'm really enjoying the course and have learnt so much.
"Gaining work experience at the canal will be a big challenge but one I'm really excited about."
The students will also be providing makeovers for the college's Travel and Tourism students, who will be helping to assist the trust with the event.
Work experience coorindator at Walsall College, Jaswant Sembhi, said: "We are delighted to be teaming up with Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust for the second year running on these events.
"They help to provide students with real and valuable work opportunities from which they can develop their skills.
"Both make-up and travel students really enjoyed the experience last year as it helped them to build their confidence and enhance their employability prospects."
Visitors embarking on the 45-minute boat trips will travel through the underground caverns and experience plenty of special effects, creepy stories, scary surprises and a glow-in-the-dark puppet show.
The trips have been described by the Trust as spooky but not scary and are therefore suitable for children over three years old.
Rebecca Cooper-Sayer, volunteer co-ordinator at Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust, said: "We're very excited about working in partnership with Walsall College and its talented students for our special Halloween events.
"They will be integral in helping us to ensure our guests have a unique and true Halloween experience when they visit our attraction."
The Halloween boat trips will be taking place October 28-31 with tickets starting from £7.80.
