Teachers at Oak Meadow Primary School turned up yesterday morning to find tables and boxes overturned as well as a number of Dell Latitude laptops stolen.

A triple-glazed window was smashed, leaving glass in children's class rooms, which was swiftly removed prior to the start of lessons by staff.

Simon Arnold, headteacher at Oak Meadow Primary School, said: "This is very disappointing, it's taking away the tools children use to learn with.

"We cleared up the mess left by them and are putting in measures to increase security.

"For the meantime we've boarded up the window that was smashed.

"Disruption to children's learning was minimum though and we are working with the police who have been very supportive so far."

Wednesfield Police tweeted: "A burglary has occurred overnight at Oak Meadow Primary School - several Dell Latitude laptops stolen. Permanent maker pen on their bases."
