Bilston's Bert Williams Leisure Centre forced to apply new pool timetable

A leisure centre which was broken into last week has been forced to put in place a new timetable for its studio pool, after the main pool was closed until further notice.

The main pool at WV Active Bert Williams leisure centre in Nettlefolds Way, Bilston, was closed due to water damage from the showers on the floor above.

A safe was taken in the raid last Wednesday at the centre, which is named after the legendary Wolves goalkeeper, nicknamed 'The Cat'.

The studio pool is primarily used for swimming lessons, but will now be used for recreational and adult swimming as well as for groups including Bilston Swimming Club's sessions, while the main pool is shut.

Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Environment, said: "While the closure is regrettable, the safety and wellbeing of our customers is paramount.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience while the works are carried out.

"In the meantime the staff have worked hard to put in place alternatives for public swimmers and regular groups that use the main pool."

Customers are being urged to use the main pool at WV Active Central in Bath Avenue, Wolverhampton, while repair work is carried out.
