Councillor Steve Waltho and his wife Jane arranged the event on Saturday night to thank people for their support in the past 12 months.

Around £50,000 has been raised for the Mayor's five charities.

Black Country comedy outfit the Fizzogs performed at the event, with music from The Empty Can, the band behind the Black Country's official anthem.

The Mayoress put her husband, Labour group leader Pete Lowe and Councillor Melvyn Mottram through their paces in a special 'Mayor Does Strictly'.

Singers Chris Passey and Richie Ray also took to the stage at the event.

Councillor Waltho said: "We wanted to thank all the people who have helped us out through the year.

"It was better than we could have ever expected.

"There was a lovely mixture of people - family, friends, community contacts and charities.

"We think we are close to, or just over, £50,000 which I think will be a record.

"It's been a phenomenal year.

"The evening was fantastic, the atmosphere was something to savour and everyone said what a marvellous night it was."

The Mayor's five charities are The Hope Centre, The What? Centre, More Mascots Please, Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund, Russells Hall and The West Midlands Lupus Group.
