Sex offender bought mobile phone to look at indecent pictures of children
A serial sex offender has been sent back to prison after making indecent images of children for a second time.
Paul Armson will spend 12 months behind bars after buying a mobile phone specially to look at banned pictures.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard how Armson, aged 50, had pleaded guilty to making indecent images and admitted to police under questioning he continued to have a sexual interest in children.
Armson, of Upper Ashley Street, Halesowen, had previously served time in prison and ordered to carry out a community sex offender's programme after being caught with 42 indecent images in 2003.
The court heard his wife and family had tried to keep him from accessing the internet but Armson had still managed to reoffend and relapse back into alcoholism.
Record Abigail Nixon, passing sentence on Wednesday (MAR 23), said: "I am quite sure you deliberately purchased a mobile phone to get access to the internet to find indecent images of children.
"You have made it clear you have an obsession but in the past you fully engaged with the group work programme.
"You did carry out work to try and prevent yourself from relapsing again but clearly that hasn't worked."
The court heard he had downloaded images to his phone and created an album.
Mrs Nixon said although the images had been on a lesser scale compared with some of the pictures that had appeared before court, the actions had led to a retrograde step in Armson's continued rehabilitation.
She sentenced Armson to 12 months in prison, banned him from having any internet access in the future and placed him on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
