New appeal after customer punched in face at Wolverhampton William Hill bookies

Police have re-released footage of a violent attack on a customer at a Wolverhampton bookmakers as the hunt continues to find his assailant.

The Romanian victim, who was punched in the face, is still receiving medical treatment for facial injuries, five months on.

The 37-year-old, who lives in the city, was standing at a betting machine with a mobile phone at his ear when he was approached by another man.

We have released CCTV footage of a man we want to trace after a 37-year-old man was assaulted at a Wolverhampton bookies. The unprovoked assault happened on Friday 4 September between 6.10pm and 6.15pm at William Hill, Bargate Drive in Whitmore Reans. Detective Constable Sam Kirk, from Force CID said: “This is a particularly nasty unprovoked attack. The victim is receiving on-going treatment for his injuries including a broken nose and damage to his eye. “We urge anyone with information to get in contact to help us trace this man as quickly as possible"Anyone with information about the crime should call DC Kirk on 101. The footage shows the attacker delivering a heavy blow to the victim's face which knocks him backwards.

The thug then drags the dazed man away from the machine in full view of a surveillance camera.

West Midlands Police said the assault just before 6.15pm on September 4 at William Hill, in Bargate Drive, Whitmore Reans was unprovoked.

Detective Constable Sam Kirk, from Force CID said: "This is a particularly nasty unprovoked attack. The victim is receiving on-going treatment for his injuries including a broken nose and damage to his eye.

"We urge anyone with information to get in contact to help us trace this man as quickly as possible."

A fresh appeal to trace the attacker was made on Crimewatch. Anyone with information about the crime should call Det con Kirk on 101.

Information can also be passed on anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
