Post Office in Wednesfield to open seven days a week
A busy Post Office in Wednesfield will open for seven days a week and have extended opening hours under new plans.
Bosses want to modernise and introduce Sunday opening at Perry Hall Post Office in Stubby Lane, Wednesfield.
Plans would also see the branch open from 7am-10pm every day - an extra 59 hours a week.
At present, it is open from 9am until 5.30pm from Monday to Friday, from 9am-12.30pm on Saturday and is closed on Sundays.
The proposed change is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern, open-plan environments.
Regional manager Suzanne Richardson said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Wolverhampton and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
"This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closures programmes."
Bosses are now looking for feedback from customers before a final decision is made on the plans.
People can send their comments by Freepost to Your Comments, Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the customer helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
Customers can also share their views online through the quick and easy questionnaire at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 209246.
The deadline for submissions is December 30.
Elsewhere, the Post Office is also looking for a proposed new site for a different branch.
Wood End Post Office has closed at Dave's Express on Lower Prestwood Roda, Wednesfield, and now plans have been unveiled to move it 200 metres away to the former Noah's Ark shop at Family Shopper on Wood End Road.
A six-week consultation on the move is taking place and runs until December 11.
The new store will feature two open plan tills at the counter instead and will offer extended opening hours from 7am until 9pm, seven days a week.
