Jaydon Paddock, aged 14, became a British champion in the gymnastics discipline of tumbling - featuring breathtaking flips and somersaults - during a recent competition.

He has now jetted off to the World Championships in Odense, Denmark where he will compete between December 2 and 6.

Unfortunately for Jaydon, tumbling is not an Olympic sport, but along with the help of parents Tye, Jo, local councillors and a previous appeal in the Express & Star, his dreams have come true.

He flew out on Sunday in the hope of coming back with gold.

Mom Jo, aged 35, said: "It's just been overwhelming, we've had support and donations come in from everywhere - we can't thank people enough.

"I'm very nervous but excited.

"Jaydon has worked hard to get here, he's ready and been training even before we had all the funding, he never gave up hope of going.

"We want to be able to support him so he can compete in every opportunity that he gets to represent his country."

She thanked councillors Elaine Costigan and Paul Moore who helped in the fundraising campaign and companies who donated to the appeal.
