The newspaper has teamed up with our partners at Shrewsbury-based Storage King to bring festive joy to youngsters who are facing difficult times.

Toys, games and DVDs have been brought into our collection points across the Black Country.

The campaign, which is supporting families of workers at Caparo steel that recently lost their jobs as well as sick children's at hospitals all over the region, has already been backed by generous donations from Walsall Football Club and King Street Toys in Wolverhampton.

While Toys R Us in Oldbury have kindly agreed to use their shop as a one of our collection points making it even easier for people to drop off their toys to.

Meanwhile, a flurry of politicians all over the Black Country have supported the campaign in recent days.

Rob Marris, MP for Wolverhampton South West, urged people to get on board the campaign and donate.

He said: "As a child, on every Christmas Day I used to visit the children's wards at the Royal Hospital with my father, who was a hospital doctor. Generous donations will help those children who sadly have to be in hospital or in Acorns Hospice at Christmas. For employees of the Caparo companies and their families, this will be a particularly worrying and uncertain time of year. I wish the campaign every success."

MP for Dudley North, Ian Austin, said: "This is another great campaign by the Express & Star and another example of the brilliant work the paper does in our community.
