A man already cautioned for having sex with a 13-year-old girl has now admitted sexually assaulting a primary school age girl.

Kashif Zafar said he abused the girl while 'buzzing' after drinking half a bottle of whisky.

Zafar, of Newbridge Road, Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton, had already been cautioned in December 2012 for having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court this week, the 20-year-old was given a three-year community order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

Judge Martin Walsh said: "She was vulnerable and very young and you effectively took advantage of her while intoxicated.

"But I give you credit for an early guilty plea and the fact that a custodial sentence would hamper any rehabilitation programme."

Zafar committed the latest crime in December last year. He pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a female under the age of 13.

Mr Glyn Samuels, prosecuting, said police were informed after the girl confessed to her mother as she was being dropped off at school.

Mr Samuels told the court that in a confession to a family member, Zafar said: "I was buzzing most of the day, I drank half a bottle of whisky that afternoon. I've got some personal problems."

Zafar was arrested on January 6 and initially refused to comment.

Miss Saleema Mahmood, defending, said it was an 'opportunistic' crime and told the court her client was 'full of remorse'.

"Furthermore my client pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity saving the victim from having to give evidence," she said.

"What he needs in his life is structure and support to address his issues and put this shameful act behind him."
