Wolverhampton's Little Dessert Shop gets bigger with new Wednesfield branch
Wolverhampton's 2015 success story, The Little Dessert Shop has opened its second outlet offering a home delivery service.
Thousands of people have piled into the city centre shop in Queen Street since it opened in May, with long queues stretching down the street and hungry customers getting in line before it even opens.
Due to the phenomenal demand, a second takeaway-only branch has opened in Wolverhampton Street, Wednesfield.
Manager Dane Bartholomew, said: "A lot of the reason we are trying this is down to feedback we have been getting. We were not expecting the demand there has been and a lot of the people coming into the shop have been asking about delivery.
"That is without us advertising it, so we thought why not give it a go.
"None of us have done anything like this before so it is uncharted territory for us and there will be a degree of trial and error."
Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Ian Brookfield, Mayoress Paula Brookfield, and Miss Earth contestant Chelsea Rist, were on hand to help open the new shop on Monday.
Six additional staff have already been taken on and a further nine are expected to join The Little Desert Shop team over the next two weeks.
The shop will stick largely to the Queen Street menu, but also offer a new variety of cakes including mint and Oreo, bubblegum Oreo and a Snickers cookie dough pizza. The site will also act as a training hub for staff.
Meanwhile, bosses are celebrating have been nominated for the Dessert Outlet of the Year at the Food Awards England 2015 and will find out on Sunday (NOV 8) if they are the winners.
Mr Bartholomew, added: "It certainly would be great if we were to win the award. If we do win that will have been down to a real team effort.
"It would be a big thumbs up to everyone at the shop.
"We are always looking to improve and from here we will be looking for more nominations in areas including customer service."
