Broadband boost for Pattingham's internet users

Hundreds more residents near Wolverhampton will get high speed broadband this month after an MP led a campaign for better services.

South Staffordshire MP Gavin Williamson has welcomed moves by BT to roll out faster links to more than 400 homes and businesses in Pattingham.

There had been engineering problems with the 10 km fibre optic cable that runs from the cabinets, resulting in a duct being replaced.

The MP said on social network Twitter: "Great news for #Pattingham residents."

Preparation works is already under way for the project in partnership with Staffordshire County Council and Wolverhampton Council.

Following a meeting two months ago between Mr Williamson and bosses, the telecommunications giant stepped up efforts to complete the work.

Customers will be able to order faster broadband later this month.
