Wolverhampton road delays warning as £700,000 improvements start
Motorists are expected to face delays as more than £700,000 of road improvements were due to start in Wolverhampton today.
The council is carrying out the works to resurface five roads before they fall into disrepair.
The city's environment boss, Councillor Steve Evans, said: "I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause residents and businesses but carrying out these works now will make good these roads for many years to come and should prevent larger scale works in the future, which would have resulted in a much larger bill."
Windmill Lane, between Castlecroft Lane and Baggeridge Road, will be closed on weekdays between 9am and 4pm from today until Friday.
Compton Road West, between The Avenue and Finchfield Hill, will see lane closures on weekdays between 9am and 4pm from Thursday, August 6 and Monday, August 17 and full closure between Ashfield Road and Finchfield Hill on Sunday, August 9 between 8am and 4pm.
Kempthorne Avenue will be closed on weekdays between 8am and 6pm from Monday, August 17 to Friday, September 11.
Bushbury Lane Island at the Elston Hall Lane will see a partial closure of Bushbury Lane and full closure of Elston Hall Lane and Kempthorne Avenue from 8am to 6pm on Sunday, August 23.
The Rock (A41), Lower Street and Henwood Road will see week night closures between 7pm and 6am from Monday, September 7 to Friday, September 11.
