Man in court over arson attack on trainee special officer

A man has been charged with an attempted arson attack on the home of a trainee special police officer.

Isiah Sanj Gill, formerly known as Nasar Jamil, of Alexandra Road, Tipton, entered no plea when he appeared at Telford Magistrates Court (ON MON JULY 20).

Gill, aged 26, is charged with attempting to commit arson by destroying a property with fire, intending to endanger life.

The charge relates to an attack on a property in Wellington on July 12 where petrol was poured through a letter box of the home of a trainee special police officer and a cigarette thrown in afterwards.

The cigarette was extinguished before it started a fire, the court was told.

Gill was remanded in custody and the case will next be heard at a preliminary hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court via video link on July 27.
