October opening date for new Oldbury Aldi store

Aldi will open a new store in Oldbury in October, it has been announced – with bosses due to start recruiting workers.

The budget supermarket will be built on vacant land off Wolverhampton Road, creating 40 jobs.

Sandwell Council said a recruitment fair will take place at the Ramada Oldbury on July 2 between 4pm and 8pm.

The 4,114 sq ft store will have a 115-space car park and is being built opposite the town's Asda supermarket.

Councillors gave the scheme their backing in February and Aldi said more than nine-in-10 people who took part in a consultation over the proposed development gave their support.
