Signs of improvement at troubled Sandwell academy
An academy in the Sandwell that was rated as inadequate earlier this year is beginning to show signs of improvement, Ofsted has said.
Teaching, bullying and pupil safety were all flagged up as areas of concern when the Ace Academy in Tipton was given the lowest possible rating by the education regulator in February.
But the situation at the academy has begun to improve under the leadership of new head Robin Grover.
Ofsted said in its report that leaders had taken 'swift action' and that measures had already been put in place to improve teaching standards.
The academy's improvement plan was also praised.
However, the body said there was still a 'core group' of around 60 children with behaviour issues.
Pupils disrupting lessons and bullying other children was highlighted as a major issue when Ofsted previously visited the academy.
