Martin Robins, who lives in Wiltshire, has taken ownership of the white 1971 Rover P5B Coupe.

The model is made famous as a car used by prime minsters such as Harold MacMillan and Margaret Thatcher.

This particular car was produced at firm in the Midlands and first owned by a Dr Harold Plester.

It was sold by Colliers of Solihull.

Records show that five years later Dr Plester sold the car to a Mr Reginald Smith who daughter Vicky Kendell was secretary of the Rover Club.

Mr Robins, said according to records, Mrs Kendell paid to renovate the car which she called The Old Lady.

"It was maintained to the standard it would have been on the day it came out," he said.

The car was kept by the family at their home in Halesowen until it was acquired by Mr Robins.

Mr Robins is asking for help to trace the car's history from 1971 to 1976.

Anyone who knew of the car and its history is asked to call 01666 837747.
